E3 2011: XCOM Preview (PC)

By Nicholas Bale ()

It's hard to update one of the most popular strategy titles to ever come out on the PC. Various attempts have been made, some decent, some poor, but as far as I know, none have reached the level of popularity that the original had. The developers of the newly-rebooted X-COM have decided to sidestep this minefield, and instead created a pseudo-strategic first-person shooter, instead of a duplicate of the original. Read More.

E3 2011: Disney Universe Preview (Wii)

By Ania Kwak ()

It was only a matter of time before someone would realize the floppy-head 'costumes,' and the gameplay made popular by Little Big Planet, would be a perfect formula for everyone's favourite Disney characters. Disney has created their own take on that gaming style, complete with little 'gremlin-type' creatures who 'suit up' in various Disney character costumes, which, from what I saw, will be a very fun game indeed. E3 2011: Hitman: Absolution Preview (PS3)

By Nicholas Bale ()

Behind closed doors, members of the press were given a sneak peak into the return of Agent 47, the skilled assassin from the Hitman series. The last game came out in 2006, so there's a lot of time for the developers to learn what works for the series and what doesn't. Read More.

E3 2011: Puzzle Agent 2 Preview (PC)

By Ania Kwak ()

Once again we return to Scoggins, Minnesota, after the case of the Scoggins Eraser Company was solved, but, not really at the same time. People are still missing, for one, and no one ever really learns what the heck's going on with those weird and creepy "Hidden People" (bizarre gnomes that are central to the story). Read More.

E3 2011: Aliens: Colonial Marines Preview (X360)

By Andrew Sztein ()

One of the first things that Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said to me and the crowd at Sega's booth before the impressive demo of Aliens: Colonial Marines at E3 rang very true. "Myself and a lot of other game developers have been ripping off Aliens our whole careers," he said. Read More.

E3 2011: Prototype 2 Preview (PS3)

By Nicholas Bale ()

Sitting in a comfortable and quiet room in Activision's booth, I checked out a pre-alpha demonstration of Prototype 2. No longer playing Alex Mercer, you are now James Heller, a man who lost his family to the protagonist from the first game and is out for revenge. Read More.

E3 2011: F1 2011 Preview (X360)

By Andrew Sztein ()

Okay, so Formula One isn't the most popular sport in the world here in Canada, but elsewhere in the world, Formula One reigns supreme. This much is apparent from the last title's 84 Metacritic score (the same as the mighty Gran Turismo 5) and the fact that it held the number one worldwide sales spot above the platinum selling Halo Reach. E3 2011: Prey 2 Preview (PC)

By Nicholas Bale ()

I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into the booth for Prey 2. The first game, a linear corridor shooter with some cool portal mechanics, but otherwise a standard shooter. Prey 2 looks to change, well, pretty much everything about the first title, adding in an open world to explore, a mission-based story structure, and first-person climbing mechanics that I've never seen before. E3 2011: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Preview (PC)

By Nicholas Bale ()

In one of the most popular booths and games of the show, I watched a developer play through a few areas of the newest chapter of the Elder Scrolls series. After the smash-hit Oblivion, I was curious to see what Bethesda could do with the series, and the answer was fairly clear: more. Read More.

E3 2011: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Preview (PS3)

By Liana Kerzner ()

Too many kids games are shovelware, and what they're shoveling isn't dirt. They're also prohibitively expensive, now that all three major console makers are turning their eye to the kiddie market. Therefore, hardcore gaming sites like GamingExcellence don't tend to give priority to previewing them. Read More.
