Star Wars: The Old Republic Going Free-To-Play

BioWare announced today that coming this fall, Star Wars: The Old Republic will be adding a free-to-play model for players.

A subscription model will still be available for players that still wish to pay for premium service, which will include a monthly allotment of Cartel Coins, a new virtual currency also being introduced this fall that will be used to purchase in-game items and features that will "enhance the game play experience. Xbox 'Durango' dev-kit details leak online

Images of next-generation Xbox development kits have appeared online this last weekend, and - if Eurogamer's Digital Foundry is to be believed - they are real.

Posted on the ASSEMbler forums, these photos show what would appear to be an unassuming PC tower, a launch-screen prominently featuring the name 'Durango' (thought to be an alias of the system) and a binary cascade effect which appears repeatedly throughout. Read More.

Mists of Pandaria Gets a Release Date

Blizzard today announced the release date of their upcoming World of WarCraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria.

The standard edition will be available on September 25 for $39.99.  Blizzard also said that a Digital Deluxe Edition of the expansion for $59.99.  The Deluxe edition will come with an Imperial Quilen flying mount, a Diablo III Banner Sigil and accent and Starcraft II Battle. Read More.

Insomniac Launches Facebook Game

Insomniac, the developer behind such series as Resistance and Ratchet and Clank, has officially launched Outernauts, its first Facebook game.

According to Insomniac President Ted Price, the game represents Insomniac's attempt to bring "the breadth and elements of console gaming to a social game". Read More.

Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy Arriving With Sly Cooper Demo

Is Machinarium slated to hit the Vita?

2009 point-and-click puzzle adventure Machinarium might be coming to the PlayStation Vita, if a post on the ESRB website is to be believed.

Rated 'Everyone 10+', the game has been listed for Macintosh, Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. Although it's already been confirmed that the title would be coming to PSN and it made the journey to iPad last year, a port to Sony's handheld hasn't yet been announced. Read More.

Gears of War: Judgement emerges next March

Epic has revealed that the next instalment in the Gears of War franchise will be hitting stores on March 19th, 2013.

Set 14 years before the original Gears of War, the game will star long-standing team-mates Cole and Baird in 'Kilo Squad', a unit charged with treason and cowardice for unknown reasons. Read More.
