Sonic the Hedgehog is returning to consoles and apparently him and all his friends are getting a serious overhaul.
Titled Sonic Boom, Sonic the Hedgehog and friends will team up to take on legions of robot enemies as they "try to stop an ancient evil."
Players will control redesigned characters of Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and Tails and use their distinct play styles to complete levels.
Sonic Boom will be for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS and will both come with its own "individual story and gameplay features."
Also announced is a TV show tie-in that will feature the redesigned characters in Sonic's first ever CG-animated series. The show is coming exclusively to Cartoon Network during its 2014/2015 season.
