When the news first dropped that the PSN had been hacked, gamers started to get worried.  When it was unsure if your credit card information was safe, that is when people started to panic.   Well, Sony has now given signs that we can rest a little easier.

In a Q&A post on the PlayStation Blog, Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media stated that the credit card information was safe.

"All of the data was protected, and access was restricted both physically and through the perimeter and security of the network. The entire credit card table was encrypted and we have no evidence that credit card data was taken."

Since it was first discovered on April 19th that the PSN was intruded by an outside source, Sony shut down the services themselves.  They then had "an outside, recognized security firm" investigate what damage was done to the network.  It is believed that the persons involved has obtained the name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birth date, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID of PSN users.
