With the third Transformers movie on the way and the success of other Massive Multiplayer Online games, such as DC Universe Online, it was only a matter of time before Hasbro would realize the market for MMO's is well worth traversing.

Sometime in 2012, the MMO RuneScape developers, Jagex, plan to have Transformers online all over the world, including North America and New Zealand. Asia will be the only location getting their own version, thanks to China's NetDragon, which they expect to see released later this year.

Jagex CEO Mark Gerard promises the title will be "dynamic and action-packed", but says nothing more, leaving the rest up for speculation. When you consider their success with RuneScape, which still has a high loyal following even ten years after its release in 2001, alongside the idea that Hasbro trusts Jagex enough to give them the rights to the franchise, something they would never do lightly, the end result of this partnership has the potential to be great.

Only when the world-wide war between Autobots and Decepticons begins in 2012 will we learn what Hasbro and Jagex have in store.
