Chrono Trigger is headed to the Nintendo Virtual Console.

Announced yesterday in a press release by Square Enix, the game will be available for download May 16th.

The game follows Chrono and a band of adventurers as they travel across time to stop a great evil and prevent an apocalyptic future.

Considered a classic by most JRPG fans, the game was originally released in 1995 for the SNES.  The game was marveled for its art style, real time battle mechanics, soundtrack as well as toted over a dozen possible endings.

With this latest news and reveal that it is headed towards the PlayStation 3 and PSP, this will be the 6th playable version of the game that has spanned more than decade.  At this point if you have not played this game yet, you only have yourself to blame.
