2K Games, through a license agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, today announced that the Zathura video game has shipped to North American retail stores in advance of Columbia Pictures' sci-fi family film Zathura: A Space Adventure, which is coming to theaters on November 11th.

Developed by High Voltage Software, Zathura is available on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox video game systems.

In Columbia Pictures' heart-racing sci-fi family film Zathura: A Space Adventure, two squabbling brothers are propelled into deepest, darkest space while playing a mysterious game they discover in the basement of their old house. On their fantastic journey, they are joined by a stranded astronaut and must survive meteor showers, hostile lizard-like aliens, a rocket-propelled robot run amok and an intergalactic spaceship battle. But their greatest peril lies ahead. For unless they finish the game and reach the planet Zathura, they are doomed to be trapped in outer space forever.

The video game Zathura features levels spanning the universe, including film environments, as well as those hinted at in the film and book. Gamers will battle more than 36 dangerous alien adversaries, including lizard-like Zorgons, rampaging robots and other bizarre space creatures.
