Microsoft Canada Co. today announced the Gamer Identification Program (GiD), a free online offer available exclusively to Canadians. GiD allows players to create a gamer identification that incorporates their Gamertag and captures their gaming approach and philosophy on Xbox Live, the premier global online console games and entertainment service. By logging on to www.xbox.com/gid, Canadian gamers can use GiD to create free personalized wallpaper, icons and even stickers.

“Canadian gamers are an important part of the over two million members in the Xbox Live global community,” said Jason Anderson, Xbox Group Marketing Manager, Microsoft Canada. “GiD provides a fun way for Canadians to really define themselves and their gaming style even after they’re finished playing.”

Created by Wunderman/Y & R Brands, GiD allows Xbox Live users to choose a variety of words that describe their gaming style and create a personalized icon. They can then customize their GiD appearance by choosing a colour and adding their own name or Gamertag to their icon. When they are finished, gamers can download their GiD as an icon, wallpaper, or order custom, limited-edition stickers.

The GiD can be found at www.xbox.com/gid.
