I am not a boy aged six to 11 years old, nor have I ever been. For this reason, I've always taken children's games as rather boring. Easy. Simple. Ignorable. This is a sin I do not plan on repeating after seeing D3's Secret Saturdays.

Secret Saturdays is based off the popular Cartoon Network show. It features a family of cryptozoologists (scientists who study rare creatures called cryptids).
You play as Zack, who navigates this side scrolling platformer with the help of an extendable grappling claw.

The game demo ran smoothly with easy to learn controls. You move Zack with the joystick, jump with A and by pressing B in midair, you can use the grappling hook to swing from platform to platform, or even reach that out-of-the-way destination by pulling yourself up along it.

The Wiimote is used to point at the cryptids you run into, either to move them or control them. Many of them can help you progress through the levels, but some may hinder you, or even harm you.

Visually, the game looks just like the show on television. Cartoony, vibrant and fun, it's appealing to children everywhere who will recognize the familiar faces of the Saturday family.

The game offers 30 brand new, game exclusive cryptids, in game battle arenas featuring the other four family members and the family cryptids. Secret Saturdays, Beasts of the 5th Sun is shaping up to be a surprisingly fun game for the inner six-year-old in you that enjoys the Wii in time for the holiday season.
