Electronic Arts Inc. announced that The Simpsons Game has shipped in North America and will ship in Europe on November 2nd. Created in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Gracie Films, The Simpsons Game is an original script created by the TV show’s Emmy Award-winning writers and voiced by the original cast from the TV show. The result is the funniest, most irreverent, exciting and authentic Simpsons video game experience ever. “Our hope is the number of solid jokes and the speed in which they come, set ourselves apart,” said James L. Brooks, Executive Producer.

With parodies of the video game industry, pop culture and current events, The Simpsons Game has the same subversive humor and delightfully smart wit as the critically acclaimed TV series. Play along as your favorite yellow, dysfunctional TV family members, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, battle to break free of the video game world and save Springfield. Each ‘Simpson’ has special abilities unique to his or her personality: smash as Homerball, zip-line as Bartman, rally Mobs as Marge, or unleash Lisa’s Hand of Buddha! With over 40 minutes of new animated scenes by the show's writers -- it's like getting two never-before-seen episodes of the Simpsons. Add that to over 8000 lines on in-game dialogue, and the Simpsons game is a must-have for any fan of the show.

"The story is the heart of the game," said Matt Selman, Simpsons Executive Producer and Head Writer of the Simpsons title. "The Simpson family realizes they're living in an actual video game. At first, it's fun having video game powers. But when life as a game character is harder then they thought, they must break out into the behind-the-scene world of video games. They must fight their way through parodies of other games in order to achieve their freedom."

“Playing The Simpsons Game is like choosing which donut to eat. The fun lies in the wide variety, but no matter which way you go it always brings a smile,” said Scot Amos, Executive Producer for the game. “The close collaboration among Gracie Films, Twentieth Century Fox and ‘The Simpsons’ creative team makes this game a sweet addition to ‘The Simpsons’ legacy.”

Under development by EA’s Redwood Shores Studio, The Simpsons Game is scheduled for release on the PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS. The Simpsons Game has been rated “T” for "Teens" by the ESRB.
