Sega announced that Armored Core 4, the newest addition to FromSoftware’s mech-based Armored Core franchise, has shipped and is now available for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

“Armored Core 4 celebrates the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed franchise by making the leap to the next-generation systems, and for the first time in franchise history features a blazing-fast multi-player component,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. “The game delivers an action-packed experience that not only caters to the diehard fans, but will attract new fans to the mech-based combat genre.”

Armored Core 4 reinvigorates the brand by offering an all-new storyline, new environments, and online capabilities that features multiple play modes and supports up to eight players battling it out simultaneously. With over 35 missions, Armored Core 4 enables gamers to fully customize and bring into battle the next generation of mechs, called “Nexts.” Players can fly through canyons and rip through cities using the new “Quick Boost” and “Over Boost” features. Armored Core 4 also features “Primal Armor”, the all-new defense shield that adjusts its strength according to specific battle conditions, giving players a defensive advantage against enemies.
