Peter Jackson's King Kong Preview (X360)

By Eduardo Araujo ()

There is a lot of hype surrounding the new King Kong game for the Xbox 360 game console. Apparently Peter Jackson himself (director of Lord of the Rings trilogy) is playing a major role not only in the new movie but in the game itself, and a lot of people are excited about the chance to play as King Kong. Ridge Racer 6 Preview (X360)

By Stephane Petit-Clerc ()

As a longtime fan of the Ridge Racer series, I've been following its development on the Xbox 360 with more than mild interest. It was therefore a real treat to get to sit down with an early build and play it at X05 Toronto. The Namco representative on-site however, had been playing the finished product for a few days and it's his details on RR6 that really piqued my interest. Read More.

Perfect Dark Zero Preview (X360)

By Stephane Petit-Clerc ()

The last time we saw Joanna Dark was roughly 5 years ago on the Nintendo 64. A lot has changed since then, for her and for us. We have gone through the 128 bit consoles and we are entering the "next-generation" age of the Xbox and PS3. For her part, and from the initial renderings and screenshots we were given of Perfect Dark Zero, it seems that before her adventures with the Carrington Institute, Joanna "The Bounty Hunter" looked more like a pixie or even perhaps a Hobbit than a grown woman. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 Preview (X360)

By Jason Murphy ()

The popularity of this series surprises me to no end. My first opinion of golf went something like this: "So, you like to watch the grass grow? Why don't you go hiking or take a nature walk?" Golf itself seems less demanding than either of these two options. However, I now realize that I could not have been more wrong. Read More.

Dead or Alive 4 Preview (X360)

By Stephane Petit-Clerc ()

Expectations are a dangerous thing, especially when videogames are concerned. Remember as far back as Duke Nukem: Time to Kill or as recently as Driv3r. And we all looked forward to Metal Gear Solid 2, but no one expected someone named Raiden to steal the show and render Snake a secondary role. Read More.

Gun Preview (X360)

By Eduardo Araujo ()

We recently had a chance to catch up with the latest build of Gun for the Xbox 360 at Microsoft's X'05 Toronto show. The game was playing on a standard 360 console instead of a development kit and looked complete with various levels available for play. For those who don't know what Gun is about, it's a new shooter from Neversoft and Activision that places you in the old west with cowboy boots, a horse, and a couple of old fashioned weapons. The Outfit Preview (X360)

By Matt Felske ()

When I originally saw The Outfit on display at the X05 Toronto event, I didn't know what to make of it. The only thing that we knew about the game from a distance was that it was being produced by THQ, as there was no indication besides a small on-screen display as to what 360 game it could be. Madden NFL 06 Preview (X360)

By Stephane Petit-Clerc ()

As a die-hard football fan, August 2005 had me scratching my head and puzzling over a few choices; Madden 06 was hitting the Xbox and I "really" wanted to play it. In fact, I "needed" to play it. After reading about Superstar Mode and having played a lot of NCAA Football 06's Race For The Heisman any football fan would've been climbing on furniture and scratching at walls. Read More.

Full Auto Preview (X360)

By Jason Murphy ()

I'll admit it right away: of all of the games that were available for preview at X'05 Canada, Full Auto was not on my "must play" list. In fact, I had never even heard about it before the show. However, having confessed straight up, I now have to admit that it was this game that I played more than any other at the show. Read More.

Call of Duty 2 Preview (X360)

By Matt Felske ()

Having been given the opportunity to attend last Wednesday's XO5 event in Toronto, I was pretty eager to play Activison's Call of Duty 2 for the Xbox 360. For gamers who have had the experience of playing the original game, the sequel continues to uphold the high standard set by it's predecessor. Read More.

Legion Arena Preview (PC)

By Matt Felske ()

Slitherine has produced a long line of strategy games set in the roman time period, and Legion Arena is a further extension of this formula. While games such as Rome Total War start us off at a certain point and time and then let us change the course of history, Legion Arena plays out the historic timeline in a realistic fashion. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat Preview (Xbox)

By Stephane Petit-Clerc ()

As the release of Battlefield 2 nears its End-of-October street date, EA Games was kind enough to send us a playable demo to give us a taste of Digital Illusions' new masterpiece. With the previous release and success of Star Wars Battlefront and the pending release of its sequel, it has become more and more apparent that what the Xbox is missing (and what gamers want most) is the game that started it all on PC; Battlefield! Read More.

Age of Empires III Preview (PC)

By Shawn Snider ()

I'll admit it at the start; I'm a real-time strategy junkie. Whether it's Age of Empires, Empire Earth, or simply the original Cossacks, if it's a real-time strategy game, I've probably played it. Thus, you can imagine my excitement when a nice shiny preview build of Microsoft's upcoming Age of Empires III arrived on my desk. Read More.

Hellforces Preview (PC)

By Matt Felske ()

We were recently given the opportunity to try out a build of Buka's upcoming first person shooter, Hellforces, which is scheduled to be launched on the PC sometime later this year. Hellforces is a first person shooter that puts you in the shoes of Steve Geist. The game opens with Geist under interrogation by an Interpol agent, and the story works backwards as you replay the events that transpired up until that point. Read More.

Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness Preview (PC)

By Matt Felske ()

We recently had an opportunity to try out a build of Buka's upcoming sequel to Battle Mages, originally released in 2004. Battle Mages: Signs of Darkness maintains a very similar feel to the game as of that of its predecessor and stays with the traditional game play style. Read More.
