2K Games today announced that Conflict: Global Terror has shipped to retail stores in North America. The newest chapter in the widely popular Conflict series is now available for the Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and PC.

Conflict: Global Terror is an action-packed squad-based shooter set within the modern day context of counter-terrorism. Gamers take the fight to real political hotspots around the world as they complete an exciting array of missions, from infiltrating enemy bases to preventing terrorists from destabilizing the world. Conflict: Global Terror features a completely rewritten engine, with radically enhanced graphics, brand-new rag-doll physics, a refined order system, highly detailed characters, hi-tech weaponry and cooperative online play for the first time in the series.

“Conflict: Global Terror expands on the popular Conflict franchise that has sold more than two million units in the United States alone,” said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. “Conflict: Global Terror provides a compelling gaming experience with an all-new graphics engine and intense online co-op play.”

In the game, a new force in global terrorism emerges called ‘March 33’, fictional descendents from the ODESSA Nazis who embark on a campaign of extreme violence and terror. Tasked with defeating March 33 is a rapid response counter terrorist unit: Bradley, Jones, Connors and Foley – the heroes from the original Conflict: Desert Storm video game, who are joined by Sherman, a brand new character and the first female protagonist in the series.
