Computer and video game publisher GodGames, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., announced that "Rune Gold" shipped to stores nationwide today. The collection combines the award-winning PC game "Rune" and the multiplayer expansion pack, "Rune: Halls of Valhalla," and is available for a suggested retail price of $19.99.

"Rune," a 3D game full of intense action and adventure, is steeped in a blend of Norse Mythology and high-fantasy. Through 43 single player levels, gamers are transported into the Dark Ages, when Vikings were the conquerors of a cold, dismal world, and paganism ruled all of the northern lands.

With fifteen unique weapons at their disposal, "Rune" players are challenged to fight off Nordic creatures and uncover the evil perpetrator annihilating the Viking population. The game combines melee combat and exploration, a colossal story line, and active environments. Featuring DeathMatch and Team Deathmatch modes, five multi-player mutator modes and seven custom-built multiplayer levels, "Rune" allows gamers to cooperate with or compete as Viking Warriors.

The "Rune Gold" package also includes "Rune: Halls of Valhalla," the official expansion pack for the game. The pack offers players the chance to go online and test their mettle against gamers from around the world. It also includes a multitude of new life-like characters, a frenzy of multiplayer actions, two new play modes (Headball and Arena) and thirty-three new maps available across all game modes. "Rune: Halls of Valhalla" can be played as both a stand-alone multiplayer game, as well as an expansion to the original.
