CDV Software Entertainment, a leading German publisher and distributor of gaming software, today announced that it has changed the name of its eagerly-awaited sci-fi real-time strategy title, "Imperium Galactica III." The game will be published under the new title, "Galaxy Andromeda."

"While 'Galaxy Andromeda' was originally conceived as the third game in the 'Imperium Galactica' series, it has now developed to the point where it has become a full-fledged game in its own right," said Terry Malham, president, CDV Software Entertainment UK. "We have high hopes for this title and expect it will go on to establish a whole new franchise of its own."

Developed by Hungarian team Mithis Games, "Galaxy Andromeda" offers an unmatched depth of game play set in an all-new 3D environment. Incorporating 30 narrative missions, this title unfurls a sweeping sci-fi epic played out in six parallel storylines. In addition, 25 randomly-generated missions make each game unique.

To complement the single-player game, up to 16 players will be able to take part in spectacular space battles on either a local area network or via the Internet.

"Galaxy Andromeda" will be published for the PC platform in late 2003.
