Gathering of Developers has just released a new multiplayer demo of "Vietcong," their upcoming first person shooter, developed by Illusion Softworks in association with development team Pterodon. Experience the danger, fear, and unpredictability of lethal jungle warfare in the Vietcong Multiplayer Demo.

Hit the ground during explosive firefights, empty your assault rifle into charging enemies, and rely on your wits to stay alive. Distinguish yourself as an elite soldier, or work as a team to claim total victory. The demo can be downloaded from http://www.vietcong-game.com/us/downloads.html.

Set during the Vietnam War, "Vietcong" is a first person shooter that also features tactical elements. As elite soldiers, players of "Vietcong" command an A-team, part of the U.S. Special Forces, in realistically represented Vietnamese environments.

Players lead up to six expertly trained soldiers through more than 20 dramatic missions, and follow a storyline that captures the danger, fear and unpredictability of the war itself. The full-featured multiplayer mode allows gamers to play as U.S. Special Forces or Vietcong soldiers and to battle over specially designed levels.

In "Vietcong," players choose from more than 25 weapons, including M16's, grenade launchers and sniper rifles. Players order air strikes or ambush enemy patrols, and success ultimately depends on their ability to keep a level head in the thick of intense action.
