The River Basin mission takes place in the local training area of an Army Post in the Continental United States (CONUS). The surrounding forest lowlands and rolling hills are rutted and heavily eroded. Populated with numerous MOUT (Military Operations Urban Terrain) structures, the area offers ample cover and concealment. A Field Training Exercise (FTX) using the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) to replicate engagements is taking place. The purpose of this exercise is for infantry squads to hone their ability to immediately react to an enemy attack in the logistical area of the battalion. One squad will participate as an Opposing Force (OPFOR) that has just seized control of key logistic supply points. The U.S. squad must retake or deny the use of the captured supplies by the Opposing Force.
The player's score is now the aggregate sum of all other columns on the scoreboard, minus ROE (Rules of Engagement) points. All player scores will count as experience points towards gaining levels of Honor, with the exception of negative KIA and LEADER values, which will be discarded.
Extra points are awarded to players who take on leadership roles in the game. Other new additions include:
Report In Feature: In the upper-right of the screen, the player's current location will be printed at all times. If asked to Report-In by a team leader, the player can hit a key and this location will be transmitted to the rest of the team. This will allow all players to more easily communicate amongst each other, and act as a more cohesive unit.
Binoculars: Team Leaders will now be issued binoculars to better assess the battlefield from a distance.
Iron Sights: Players will now be able to move with the iron sights raised.
Honor: Along with the new scoring system, the Honor System has been improved and should now present a better, more balanced depiction of player behavior and performance.
News: Players will now be able to get the latest America's Army news on the login screen.
