Fishtank Interactive, a division of Ravensburger Interactive Media and publisher of PC and console-based interactive games, today announced that the action racing title for the PC, "Beam Breakers," will ship in the first quarter of 2002. Developed by Simils Software, "Beam Breakers" is a gravity defying racing title set in futuristic New York City.

"We're adding an exciting new dimension to the racing genre," said Jerry Wolosenko, head of Fishtank Interactive activities in North America. "Gravity is no longer a factor in this high-speed title. Players can dive low, dodging the skyscrapers of New York City, or fly high above the city skyline in competitions against rival gangs."

In the not-too-distant future, paralyzing gridlocks and tremendous traffic overwhelm the oppressively crowded New York City, forcing all vehicular traffic into a matrix of tightly controlled traffic guide beams.

You are a member of an outlaw "beam breaker" gang, and you must pilot your anti-gravity vehicle out of the matrix, jump the stringent guide beams that regulate the city's traffic, race between the high rise buildings and perform daredevil stunts. Only by leaving rival gangs and law enforcement in the dust will you advance to the best and fastest "Riders". It will take great skill to navigate through the 3D traffic grids and skyscraper labyrinths while screaming past the roller coasters in tomorrow's Central Park at the controls of your own souped-up "Beam Rider"? You can make it only if you hold on tight... and don't lose your nerve.
