Activision, Inc. and Raven Software's powerful and intense action game, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix has shipped to retail stores nationwide. The sequel to the award-winning Soldier of Fortune, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix drops players into the ranks of America's elite covert troops in a gritty and intense battle for survival.

"Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix offers more raw excitement than any other first person action game," said Larry Goldberg, executive vice president, Activision Worldwide Studios. "With its detailed damage modeling, random mission generator and astonishing action sequences Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix will simply knock your socks off!"

In Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix players once again assume the role of John Mullins, a military consultant working for the top-secret agency known as The Shop. Drawing in-part upon the experiences of the real John Mullins, players will experience fierce shoot-outs in the jungles of Columbia, the frozen wastelands of Kamchatka and the bustling streets of Hong Kong, to name a few. During their tour of duty, players will have access to an immense arsenal of real-world weaponry including MK 23 US SOCOM, M4 with M203 grenade launcher, MSG90A1 military sniper rifle, and the MM-1 40 mm grenade launcher, as well as authentic next generation small arms such as the OICW weapon system. In addition to the awesome firepower at their fingertips players will have to master stealth in order to tackle a wide-range of missions, including hostage rescue, intelligence gathering and search-and-destroy.

"Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix was an incredibly ambitious design that's exceeded our wildest expectations," states Brian Raffel, vice president of Raven Software. "Not only is Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix the most gritty and frenetic action game ever, but our random mission generator technology gives the game nearly endless replayability."

At the center of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is an incredibly detailed damage modeling system that provides the player with an all new level of intensity during gameplay. Lifelike character movements further draw the player into the game, and per pixel hit locations and location based damage modeling create an added layer of realism for the player.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix also advances the genre with the introduction of a new random mission generator technology for both single and multiplayer. By entering variables into the game's random mission generator players can create millions of single or multiplayer maps on-the-fly for endless replayability. In addition to the RMG maps, multiplayer in Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix offers nine professionally designed maps, more than 100 unique model/skin combinations and four different game modes, including and deathmatch, team deathmatch, elimination and infiltration.
