Akella today passed along a bit of information regarding their upcoming 3rd person action shooter, Heavy Duty.

"The “Heavy Duty” development team is still working on the most exciting project of the year 2007. The landscape of the whole 3D planet is almost done. Now there are clouds, snow and rain."

"The bottom of the sea has become bolder and now one is able to see all the banks and deep basins from the orbit. Some waterfalls have appeared, but mostly in the places where rivers fall into the ocean."

"The stones, being beat down can cause avalanches and rockfalls are prepared in the rocky districts."

"The colonies have started developing: people’s figures, transportation units, exotic pets have appeared."

"As far as battle is concerned a player, manipulating land or air unit, is able to watch the fight through a half-transparent HUD which at the same time shows all the necessary information: speed, height and direction of the flight, amount of its energy, armory, weapons he is currently using, radar."

"The mechs division is now more co-ordinated: there are no more “left” units as they follow (whenever it is possible) the division’s leader - the one which is currently manipulated by a player."

"Different tactical schemes are easy to be realized as a player is free to give orders to other crew members."

We'll be following this game as it develops further in the coming months.
