Activision and Marvel Entertainment announced yesterday in a press release that a new Spider-Man title is in the works.

Titled Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Players will take control of The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 as they work together to change a disastrous future brought on by the untimely death of Peter Parker.

Activision states the the game will have a "cause and effect" gameplay feature where the actions taken by one Spider-Man will seriously effect the other Spider-Man's timeline.

Beenox Studios will once again take the helm as lead developer for the game.  Their last venture with the wall-crawler, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, was well received by critics, including us.

"We want to create a totally distinct experience in Spider-Man: Edge of Time by working with [comic book writer] Peter David on the story and creating this urgent, high stakes experience where time is working against you and the fate of Spider-Man hangs hangs in the balance." said Dee Brown, Studio Head at Beenox.

No word yet on what consoles the game will be released on.  The game is slated for this fall.
