Ubisoft has announced that it's jumping into the void left by the Guitar Hero franchise being cancelled.  Rocksmith, due to be released in the later half of 2011, is being introduced as the next revolutionary step in rhythm gaming.

Players will be able to use almost any guitar...yes, REAL guitar, to plug into the game and play the songs.  They will actually strum musical notes as opposed to the colored buttons we've all come to know and love.

Gameplay will adjust based on skill level to provide a dynamic experience that they believe will keep gamers engaged and avoid burnout.  Through continued use of the game, players will be able to read music and play on an actual guitar.  A good sized music library with everything from classic rock to modern hits has also been announced, though no specifics on song listings has been released.

Rocksmith will be playable on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
